Sailing themes and America’s Cup

Pierre Frey Panarea Wellington Design Library

In design much inspiration comes from the activities that surround us and in turn design also inspires emotion.

At WDL we think these designs mirror the hope and excitment surrounding America’s Cup – whether you like the billowy sails, the swaying ocean or perhaps those strapping lads at the helm, we hope, like all great design, they’ll strike a chord with you!

Spectacular tiles

photo4

Decorative tiles have adorned the façades of ancient Persian temples, Islamic mosques, palaces, medieval cottages and castles, Victorian churches, and modern homes.

Ceramic tiles can be used to fantastic effect creating a dramatic space within a modern interior. A space that is both spectacular and bold, eclectic, and tailored to the individual.

Floor tiles are generally made of ceramic or stone, however with recent technological advances rubber and glass tiles are now readily available from flooring specialists.

Dreaming of a far away land

sml_DSC0054crop2

We’re dreaming of traveling to exotic lands… taking the train, navigating by sea, maps we still get lost with, wandering the streets in a city we can’t speak the language of, and ordering cappuccino senza spuma with just the right amount of difficulty.

Object Fur Breakfast – We love how this 1930’s surrealist piece, by Méret Oppenheim, combines textures and design to create a bizzare reality.

You can see this artwork in it’s furry glory at  MoMA, New York
